UBC MariSARS Scientists
Leading the MTU working group at the Department of Geosicneces since 1993. Expertise in all aspects of seismoacoustic work from acquisition through processing to interpretation of seismic, echosounder, multibeam and sidescan sonar data. Leader of many research and technical development projects. Co-leader of the UBC MarSARS. Worked as consultant for windfarm development and managing other UBC projects.
Scientific-Technical Leader in the MTU working group. Involved in all aspects of seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation. Special scientific focus on the North Sea sedimentary system. Worked in UBC for different processing projects and contributes expertise in software and algroithm development and application.
During the master thesis contributed significantly to the method of seismic subsurface boulder detection, led by a MTU subproject , which is now established as a commercial approach by Fraunhofer IWES.
After working for Fraunhofer IWES, developed various advanced methods of seismic inversion, which are part of the UBC portfolio.
Worked during his master thesis on Baltic Sea geology and glacial deformation. Phd work was focusing on 2D and 3D seismic data processing and geologic as well as quantitative interpretation. Seismic inversion results were compated with CPT data, including seismic facies characterization and Soil Behaviour Types.
Offers UBC certified training courses on seismic processing, interpretation, multibeam and side scan sonar processing as well as sediment echosounder processing and interpretation. Also offers data processing of all geophysical data sets through UBC.
