3D Baltic Sea - Arkona Basin

In March 2017, the first true threedimensional multichannel seismic survey was carried out on Alkor Cruise AL490-1 by MTU in the German Baltic Sea in cooperation with Fraunhofer IWES. A new digital 3D system with 4 parallel streamers was used with 4 x 48 channels and 50 m active length.

The survey was part of the BMWi-funded project Seismik NordOst.

The preliminary processing reveals a very high imaging quality and the spatial context of features and structures. 

Of particular interest is the nature of fill of valley structures passing through the area from NE to SW and N to S.

The data set is currently the subject of interpretation in the BMWi-funded project SynCore.
