Renewable Energy

MSc-1 Renewable Energy in the Earth System (Spiess, Keil, Lange, Gottschall)

The lecture deals with the major renewable energy sources, such as wind, ocean waves, solar, hydroelectric and geothermal power. We introduce into the physical principles, geographic and geologic aspects of energy distribution und temporal variation and approaches for exploitation. MTU covers the aspects of solar, hydroelectric and geothermal power.

MSc-1 Renewable Energy Exploitation  - Seminar (Spiess, Keil, Lange, Gottschall)

The seminar is intimately linked to the lecture. Students receive themes to report about, mostly with a focus on exploitation and engineering aspects of renewable power plants.

MSc-2 Soil Investigation for Wind Farms (Spiess, Keil, Preu, Wenau)

The lecture deals with all aspects of a wind farm development, from the early planning through site investigations for environmental, biological, geophysical and geotechnical conditions towards the final placement criteria for wind mills. MTU contributes to geophysical site investigrations.
